As reported today on Kontakt Plus Radio, the Germans from NATO are coming within the next month to familiarize itself with Kosovo North’s terrain. Of course, KFOR and NATO have already been here since 1999, so you have to wonder what else is left for the Germans to familiarize themselves with.
Maybe, then, the report of the German’s battalions deployment is an attempt by NATO to assuage the population’s fear of violent outbreaks in the contested regions of Kosovo come December 10? Thanks, NATO, for the information. I feel so much better already.
German battalion to be deployed in Kosovo North Mitrovica– A German battalion will be deployed in Kosovo North between November 25 and mid-December, according to a press release issued by the Multinational Task Force North. The drill “enables this type of NATO force to familiarise itself with Kosovo’s terrain,” the press release said.
The 550-troop-battalion arrived in Kosovo between 1-14 November, and is currently deployed in Istok region. The drill aims to demonstrate “NATO’s capability to provide reinforcements to KFOR within the shortest possible time if necessary to maintain peace and order.”
